                                              Start with an artwork check, then move into the basic step-by-step ID card builder. Advanced options are kept separate so the main builder stays simple.

                                              Start Here - Artwork Check

                                              This artwork and layout tool is only a guide. It helps the customer show us a layout they like, but it is not final artwork. We still need to check everything and can send back a production proof later if they wish to go ahead.
                                              Start with a photo, then logo, then background if one is needed. A card does not need full background artwork. Many clean ID cards work best with a plain white card, a good logo, a clear photo, and readable text.

                                              Upload the photo, logo, and optional background below. One click will add only the items that have been uploaded. If no background is uploaded, the card stays plain.

                                              1. Upload photo

                                              The dotted box keeps a fixed 300 x 375 photo ratio with square corners. Move and zoom the image until it looks right, then preview it or add it to the Basic Builder.

                                              3. Use when ready

                                              The photo crop uses only what appears inside the dotted box. Output is 300 x 375 px and it is automatically reduced to a small JPG. If you want a round photo later, choose the round option in the Basic Builder after adding the prepared photo.
                                              If the photo still looks poor here, it is usually better to replace or edit it outside the builder first.

                                              2. Upload logo

                                              A good logo should look sharp and have little empty space around it. You can add it straight to the Basic Builder.
                                              The logo is optional. A plain card with just a clear logo, photo, and text is often easier to read.

                                              Check that the logo has enough space around it and still looks sharp on both light and dark backgrounds.

                                              Background Check

                                              Background crop is set to Portrait because Portrait was selected above.
                                              The background crop follows the card direction selected at the top of Start Here. Upload a background image only if the card needs artwork behind the text, logo, and photo.

                                              3C. Crop when ready

                                              The crop uses only what appears inside the dotted card outline. Download the reduced JPG, or click “Add background to card” to place it straight into the Basic Builder. Portrait output is 638 x 1013 px. Landscape output is 1013 x 638 px. The file is automatically compressed to help keep it under about 2 MB.
                                              If the background or logo still looks wrong here, it is usually better to fix it outside the builder first, then upload the cleaned-up artwork.

                                              Builder Steps

                                              1Choose Layout
                                              Choose portrait or landscape, then pick a simple starting style.
                                              2Add / Edit Logo
                                              Add, edit, move, or resize the logo on the card.

                                              Add, edit, move, resize, and crop the photo.
                                              4Text Fields
                                              Edit the name, job title, department, expiry date, and number.
                                              Optional features:
                                              Use Step 1 to add a sample QR code, barcode, rear information box, or rear magstripe guide. These are simple visual options only.
                                              Use Start Here to check artwork first. Prepared photos, logos, and backgrounds can be added straight into the Basic Builder. Leave background blank if you want a clean plain card.

                                              Step 1 - Choose Layout

                                              Choose a portrait or landscape starting layout. Start Here is there to help check artwork before building the card.

                                              1. Choose card format

                                              Card format is controlled from Start Here. Go back to Start Here if you want to change between portrait and landscape.

                                              2. Choose basic layout

                                               

                                              3. Add optional features

                                              This step only sets up a starting layout. Customers can still remove, move, or edit the logo, photo, text, QR, barcode, clip-hole guide, and rear-side items later. Magstripe is rear side only.

                                              Choose a layout to update the card preview.

                                              Logo Upload

                                              You can drag the logo on the card. The width, height, and corner handle resize the logo while keeping its normal proportions so it does not stretch.

                                              Photo Upload

                                              Drag the photo box on the card to move it. The bottom-right resize handle keeps the selected photo shape locked. Rectangle stays at 300 x 375 proportions with square corners. Round stays as a true circle. For round photos, zoom stays at 1.0 or higher so the original square or rectangle photo edge does not show inside the circle. Use crop X/Y to line the face up inside the circle.

                                              Basic Text Fields

                                              Customer help: Edit the text that appears on the card. Each text line can be dragged on the preview, resized, aligned, coloured, or removed if it is not needed. Use regular text for most names and titles, and only use bold when you want extra emphasis.

                                              Name layout

                                              Portrait cards usually work best with first and last name on separate lines. Landscape cards usually work best with the full name on one line.

                                              Advanced Options

                                              This area is intentionally separate from the Basic Builder. The basic builder stays clean for normal photo ID card layouts. Advanced tools can be added here later for jobs that need extra production detail.

                                              Rear sideBuild a second side for return instructions, emergency notes, cardholder rules, or organisation details.
                                              QR code or barcodeAdd scannable information, either static or later linked to customer data fields.

                                              My recommendation: keep this Advanced Options tab visible as a future pathway. Start Here helps with artwork checking, while the Basic Builder stays simple and the more technical items still stay separate.
