CardPresso ID Card Software
When it comes to designing and issuing ID cards, cardPresso is one of the most widely used tools in the market. It’s more than just a layout program — the software scales with your needs depending on which version you choose.
At its core, cardPresso provides a user-friendly design environment. You can create layouts with text, images, logos, barcodes, and QR codes. The WYSIWYG editor makes it simple to drag and drop elements, so what you see on screen is what prints on the card.
Where cardPresso really stands out is its ability to connect with data. From the mid-level versions upwards, you can link the software directly to external databases. That means information such as names, photos, or membership numbers can be pulled in automatically, saving hours of manual entry. For schools, clubs, or businesses managing larger card volumes, this can make a huge difference.
The higher-tier editions add more specialised features. These include encoding options for magnetic stripes, RFID, and smartcards such as MIFARE. Scripting and conditional printing rules are also available, so organisations can customise how different groups of cards are issued — for example, giving staff cards one colour and visitor cards another without creating multiple templates.
It’s worth noting that cardPresso works best with local file storage. While images stored in OneDrive or Google Drive folders may sometimes appear to work, these cloud-based folders aren’t officially supported. For reliability and proper support, images should be stored in standard Windows locations.
Overall, cardPresso offers a flexible path: start with the basics if you only need simple card design, and move up to more advanced editions when you’re ready to connect databases and encode cards. That scalability is what makes it a practical choice for organisations of all sizes.
